Mark Elliott, LCSW-S | Senior Therapist
People come to see me for a variety of reasons. Many would like help coping with stress or feelings of anxiety or depression. Sometimes people just feel stuck and are not sure why. At times, changing something about our situation can be helpful. Frequently, it is about greater self-acceptance. Emotions and behaviors can be influenced by factors outside of awareness. Therapy works best when it feels like a safe place to engage in a process of curious exploration.
Clients have said I offer a balance of support and gentle challenges. I listen intently and respond in a way that helps facilitate deeper understanding. My approach tends to be psychodynamic and insight-oriented. I’m a graduate of the Center for Psychoanalytic Studies and serve as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at The University of Texas at Austin. I have worked in the emergency department (ER), psychiatric hospitals (inpatient and outpatient), op, college counseling centers, and community mental health.
I frequently work with creative people, college students, helping professionals, entrepreneurs, career changers, and people going through a life transition. I also enjoy working with couples looking to improve their communication and closeness. Our starting place may be to work through difficulties. As therapy progresses, your priorities may shift to enhancing the positive: satisfying work, enhanced relationships, more peace with yourself.
Lindsey Heddleston, LMSW | Associate Therapist
I love delving into deep feeling with curiosity, compassion, and gentle humor. I believe that one of the great gifts of being human is to be able to share our experience with another and feel truly seen and valued, just as we are. I believe we heal in therapeutic relationship.
I find working with guided imagery meditation, embodied awareness, and the nervous system helps people to find freedom and ease. Through work with me, my clients are able to home in on their values, explore self-compassion and find intrinsic worth. This insight often leads to profound shifts in the way they see the world.
I’m particularly passionate about working with parents of young children, opening to vulnerability, and facilitating heart-felt connection with groups and couples.
I have a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia in English Literature and an MSSW from the University of Texas in Social Work.
